Leadership Team
In the Episcopal Church, members elect a team of leaders to work with the Rector and to entrust with taking care of the business of the congregation. This team of leaders, the Vestry, takes care of the building and grounds and works with the Rector to use the consecrated giving of participants to fund the priorities and goals for the mission of the parish through an annual budget.
At St. John's, we elect vestry members to serve for three-year terms. The terms are staggered so that there is always a mix of new and experienced members on this leadership team. Each member of the vestry works with the rector to insure the vitality of congregation's ministry.
The Rector leads the Vestry and presides at its meetings. The vestry elects officers who have special responsibilities and serve with the Rector on the Executive Committee. Two of these officers are called by the historic name of Wardens. No prison responsibilities here! Each Warden provides oversight and support for the work of the vestry. The Senior Warden presides over vestry meetings when the Rector is away and leads the congregation in the absence of a Rector. The Register acts as a secretary, maintaining minutes and official correspondence. The Treasurer is responsible for insuring the integrity of our financial processes.
The vestry normally meets on the third Tuesday of each month in the Rector's Office.

Sometime during December or January, three new vestry members are elected during worship for a three year term by participants who are Communicants in Good Standing of St. John's.
To be a Communicant in Good Standing, you must have your baptism recorded in the parish register, attend worship regularly, and be a contributor of record to the mission of the congregation through its budget.
St. John's Endowment
St John’s Episcopal Church Endowment Fund was created to give persons of good will a way to support the future life of Christ at St. John’s Church. Through ministries we cannot now imagine, gifts to this fund will enable sisters and brothers in Christ in the decades and centuries to come the ability to bless our faith community, our neighborhood, and beyond.
The purpose of this Endowment Fund is to equip St John’s Church to fulfill its mission more completely by developing ministries beyond what is possible through our annual operating budget.
As of 12/31/2024, St. John’s Episcopal Church Endowment Fund was valued at $315,113. To discover ways you can contribute to the Endowment, click here. The Endowment is professionally managed under the supervision of parishioners appointed by the vestry.
